American intervention in Afghanistan lasted the span of four presidents, Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden. Yet, after all of that, we left the country to be stored by the Taliban, shades of what we did decades earlier in Vietnam. We bled our nationalism into Afghanistan, our presidents claimed it as theirs, and then we loomed above the damage, defending our decision to this day.
